Edge Caching
Whaly uses cache memory to speed up results, which can be up to 100x faster than RAM. Cache stores copies of the data, which makes it quicker and easier to fetch. Whaly always serves the result of your first query from cache. When changes have been made to your data, you can refresh the cache to ensure that your query results always show up at lightning speed. Plus, by leveraging cache, you’re already optimized to reduce your data warehouse cost.
Smart Pre-Aggregations
Dimensions and metrics are calculated on the fly, and computed against your warehouse. Crawling this heavy data is not only expensive, but also painfully slow. There’s no need for that to happen every time you run a query. Whaly uses pre-aggregation by creating a table of pre-aggregated results, where only a few lines are scanned. With this table, you can crawl the pre-aggregated results on a need basis. Not only does this turbo-boost your speed, this also ensures that you’re optimized around data warehouse cost, and you won’t get a scary bill at the end of the month.
Table Materialization
Our native integration with dbt means that you can leverage dbt’s table materialization when modeling your data, which offers the fastest experience. Not only are tables fast to query, you can also combine several tables. Rather than running the models every time, you can also save them and refresh periodically.
Debugging Console
Our Console product that’s built into our modeling Workbench provides data teams with the tools they need to get to the bottom of query bottlenecks. They can use the Console to check speed and latency, and troubleshoot dashboards and queries for business users. Data teams are empowered to dig into why load times are slow, and get the insights they need to speed up queries.
